Dom's Draftkings Picks 5/19
Actually a half decent slate of games lined up for a Thursday, so let's get right into it. I'm going to be more consistent with these and I'll be posting almost everyday about my picks. Tomorrow I'll show how my full lineup fared, and then talk about what's on the slate for tomorrow night.
SP: Matt Harvey 9.7K
Is Chris Sale going to strikeout a million people tonight? Yes, but he's 13.8k so good luck budgeting in a half decent lineup. Going up against Strasburg at home tonight I think Harvey is due for a gem. Harvey hasn't faced the Nats yet this season and has had success against them in the past. His stuff has been lackluster all year and everyone knows that he's better than what he has displayed thus far. I think he has a chance to strikeout 8+, go deep, and get the W. Bold move, I know. You're either with me or you aren't.
OF: Stephen Piscotty 3.7k
Coming off of a 3/4 night last night and hitting .318 on the season, this price point is an absolute steal. He's set to face Rockies Right-hander Jon Gray tonight, who has been impressive in his past 3 starts. Piscotty is slugging .497 thus far and out of his 5 HRs, 3 have come off right-handers. Easily in double-figures tonight.
SS: Corey Seager 4.5K
I'm aware the price point is high but this is where you pay up to be contrarian. Seager is riding a 9-game hitting streak where he has hit 5 homers. The kid is just 22 and it seems as if he's a quick learner. Not to mention they are facing the sorry ass Angels and the right-handed Chacin, who has a 4.81 ERA this season. A yabo is in Seager's near future.
OF: Jay Bruce 4K
Coming off of a 2 homer night last night, I think Bruce can hit at least one tonight. He's facing a righty in Tomlin who has given up 7HRs in his 6 starts this season. Bruce is hitting for a .580 slugging percentage against righties this year and there's no reason for him not to have success tonight.
VALUE OF THE DAY
1B: John Jaso 3.5k
The Pirates did what only 9 other teams have done against this Braves this season, lose a game. Tonight I don't project them to extend their winning streak to two, in fact, I think the Pirates win by 10 tonight. McCutchen, Kang, Harrison, and Polanco are all great plays tonight. So is Jaso. He is in the leadoff spot for the Pirates and he'll be at an advantage facing the righty Foltynewicz (.286 with a .437 slugging percentage against righties). Sneaky lowkey play that I think can payoff if you need to squeeze someone in your lineup at the last minute. Plus he's got phenomenal hair.
