Sharks Advance to First Stanley Cup Finals In Team History

This is why hockey is one of if not the best sport to follow year in and year out. The sharks weren't shit three years ago. They were the team that you would get stumped on when trying to name all 30 NHL teams to prove to your friends that you were a real hockey fan. You get to see teams accomplish things that you would have never thought possible for them in your lifetime at least. In other sports, teams develop dynasties and a high payroll that allows them to be a contender for years and years to come. Hockey on the other hand allows small market teams like the Sharks, who have only been in the league for 25 years, to have a realistic shot in the not so distant future.

Sure, recently we've seen teams like the Blackhawks take the entire NHL by storm for consecutive seasons, but it doesn't happen nearly as frequently as it does in other sports like baseball and football. Also, it's great to finally see guys like Joe Thornton get a shot at the Cup. The guy's been in the league forever and if anyone deserves a late shot at the greatest trophy in sports it's this guy. Even if you're not a hockey fan, when you hear the name Joe Thornton you immediately think of a lumberjack on ice. Fascinating to watch the man play ice hockey.

Obviously gotta root or the Sharks in the series. I think they're going to be playing the Pens, and for fuck's sake if Sidney Crosby is hoisting the cup this year I will remove myself from this earth.
