How Good has Steven Wright Been??
Steven Wright has been out of control for the Sox so far this year. Honestly, I can’t really wrap my mind around how good he’s been. The last time he really got his shit pushed in was the game against the Astros when it was pouring rain and he just couldn’t get his knuckleball going. He’s 31 years old and kinda came out of nowhere this year but is it crazy to think that he could pull a 2012 R.A. Dickey like season? If so then call me crazy. I’m pretty sure I’m in love with this guy. Go look up a picture of his face, I'll wait... He does not have the face of an MLB pitcher, but he’s out there staring adversity in the eye and slapping it in the mouth every start. His pitching motion reminds me of a dad lobbing in pitches in wiffle ball, but goddammit if he doesn't make it work for him. Yesterday was his THIRD complete game of the season. Can you guess who he’s tied with for most in the league so far? Johnny Cueto, Clayton Kershaw, and Chris Sale. If he gets one more he'll be the first Red Sox pitcher since Josh Beckett in 2009 to get 4 in one season. He’s been the best pitcher on a staff that has David Price on it. That's no joke. My God I hope he keeps pitching nasty. Gimme Tim Wakefield all over again.
When it's on this thing in damn near untouchable.
