Crazy Day for the NHL
A couple huge trades and a big signing occurred today in the NHL.
First, Taylor Hall to the New Jersey Devils for D man Adam Larsson. What the hell are the Oilers smoking?! I know they desperately need D, but they shouldn't be giving up one of the best wingers in the game for ADAM LARSSON. Guy is kind of a bust as of right now, so maybe a fresh start in Edmonton will revive his career. But for christ sake, ANYBODY BUT TAYLOR HALL! Pete Chiarelli is basically digging his own grave with this monstrosity of a trade. The endless rebuild for the Oilers continues.
Second trade of the day is a huge shocker. P.K. Subban traded to the Nashville Predators for Shea Weber. Holy shit. The swapping of All-Stars is hard to come by in the NHL these days, and these players are similar. Both have rockets for shots and both get a ton of helpers. P.K. is younger and his skating abilities are better so I think overall the Preds are the winners in this trade.
Lastly, Steven Stamkos signs an 8 year 68 million dollar contract to remain with the Lightning. Not too shocking honestly. The bolts went all the way to Game 6 in the Eastern Conference Final without Stamkos until his return in Game 7. The Bolts have gone to the Stanley Cup Final and the Eastern conference Final the past two seasons, so Stammer realized this is his best chance to win a cup.
Free Agency opens up Friday July 1st, can't wait to see who signs where.
