Vanderbilt Pitcher Donny Everett Dies in Drowning Accident
Terrible story out of Vanderbilt today, Pitcher Donny Everett dies in a drowning accident while fishing with his two friends and two teammates. He was 19.
Apparently these five friends were all just fishing having a good time and Donny decided to try and swim across the lake. He proceeded to swim across and he screamed for help. His friends thought he was joking and one of his friends swam out there anyway and grabbed him and pulled him several feet towards land and he let go of him thinking Donny was joking. Next thing they knew he went under and didn't resurface. He was not known to be a good swimmer his friends said. Everett had a 1.50 ERA in 12 innings this season with the Commodores.
Terrible stuff right here. Thoughts and prayers go out to the Everett family and the Vanderbilt baseball team. Way too young, potentially had a bright future ahead of him.
