What Does Taylor Hall Bring To The Devils?.....EVERYTHING
I'm HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY after the Devils trade defenseman, Adam Larsson, for Edmonton winger, Taylor Hall yesterday.
The Devils were in DESPERATE need of an offensive scorer, and that's no secret. But absolutely stealing Taylor Hall from the Oilers for Adam Larsson was not what I imagined at all. This is an excellent move for this team going forward. Adam Larsson has not panned out the way the Devils hoped he would. He was the 4th overall pick for the Devils in 2011, and is still only 23-years-old. His progress, although it has been positive, is taking too long. Could a change of team and scenery be the catalyst Larsson needs to live up to his draft potential? Absolutely. Could he just need a little longer to develop? Absolutely. But the Devils need scorers and the Oilers need defenders. Hopefully for the Oilers sake they can snag Lucic from the Kings to replace Hall.
Now, on to Taylor Hall. Last season, the Devils scored a total of 182 goals and averaged about 2.22 a game, both of which are last in the entire league. Taylor Hall is young at age 24, and certainly has come into his own as a scoring threat. Although injuries have plagued many of his seasons, Hall remains consistent in production every time he is on the ice. As long as he can remain healthy on the Devils, I honestly believe he will end up being a player similar to Zach Parise in New Jersey. A fan favorite and a good young star to build a team around and go far.
