The Yankees Winning A Game With Me Attending is Huge
Dating back to July 2015, I had not attended a Yankee game in which they have emerged victorious. Since last July, I have accumulated a 9-game losing streak when I'm there, which includes the Wild Card loss to the Astros. But that all changed tonight...
The Yanks were down 2-0 in the top of the 7th, and I was in awe as I witnessed first hand how terrible the lineup is. Then with two outs in the bottom of the inning, and morale at an all-time low, McCann hit a ball just foul down the RF line. The very next pitch, he straightened it out to cut the lead in half. Subsequently, Castro turned on a Matt Shoemaker fastball and parked that bitch in the second deck in left. Tie ballgame. Couldn't believe my eyes.
Andrew Miller entered in the 8th after Tanaka turned in a solid 7 inning outing, giving the offense a fighting chance. Miller proceeded to strike out the side in Calhoun, Trout, and Pujols, and made it look like cake. In the bottom half, Ellsbury reached base as did Gardner after working a great at-bat and hitting a single to center. Beltran came up and delivered with two outs, lifting an opposite field home run over the RF wall. Place went bananas, and Chapman shut it down for the save 1-2-3 and the dub.
I am now confident that the 2016 New York Yankees can get back on track. The monkey is off of my back and it's time to get on a roll during this homestand. We're not "sellers" and we're not going to "not make the playoffs" because that's not the Yankee way. This team hasn't had a losing season in my entire lifetime, and it's not about to happen this year. Get hyped baby, the Yankees are great again.
