Yankees Look to Stay HOT
The Red Hot Yankees look to keep their fire after sweeping first place Toronto Blue Jays in the Bronx. The Yanks now have 4-games against the struggling last place Tampa Bay Rays.
Last night the Yankees were able to get it done in the bottom of the 9th thanks to baby bomber Tyler Austin who inside outted a pitch into the right field seats with 2 outs giving the Yankees a 5-4 victory against the Rays.
In the game Brian McCann added two long solo home runs as well. Three players last night each had 2-HR games; Brian McCann, Kevin Kiermaier, and Steven Souza Jr. The Rays got all their runs via the home run ball from Souza and Kiermaier, three of them were off of Yankees starter C.C. Sabathia.
For the first time in two games the Yankees did not get shut out when C.C. was on the hill. It was definitely nice for C.C. to see a crooked number on the scoreboard when the game was over.
Yankees are currently 2 games out of the wild card and 4 out of the division. The teams above them are the Red Sox, Blue Jays, Oriels and Tigers. Luckily for the Yankees the Oriels play the Tigers, and the Red Sox play the Blue Jays this weekend. As long as the Yankees keep winning and can take at least 3/4 from the Rays they will gain ground in the division and/or wild card.
Yankees send out Michael Pineda tonight to take on the lefty Blake Snell, first pitch is at 7:05 in the Bronx. LET'S GO YANKS!
