Harper Vs. Strickland: My Thoughts
Yesterday we saw Bryce Harper, whom I hate, get into a fight with Hunter Strickland. I don't blame Bryce for fighting him because Strickland probably should've let it go that Harper pimped two homers off him in the playoffs a couple years back. It also should've eased his hate a little bit that the giants went on to win the World Series that year but that's beside the point. For Bryce's first move to be the helmet toss is incredible cowardly. I've been firmly against the helmet toss my whole life. Even when Kevin Youkilis did it against current red sock Rick Porcello, I was of the opinion that it was a pussy move. However, I think Harpers was a lot worse. It's a real question whether he tried to hit the pitcher with the helmet or if he threw it wide to try to distract Strickland. I am of the opinion that he threw it wide on purpose to distract him and come in with a knockout blow. That's soft. Bryce is a big dude no doubt about it. I don't care if Strickland is technically taller or whatever Bryce is definitely stronger and supposed to be a "tough guy" he should've manned up and squared up. Bryce took a good shot to the face and admittedly got a good one off himself but I think he lost the fight and that both guys lost mentally. Bryce looks like a bitch for throwing the helmet and Strickland comes off as a little bit less of a bitch for never forgetting about a couple of pimped homers.
Ps. It should be noted that Strickland really didn't wanna stop fighting and it took like four of his own guys to pull him out and make him actually stop.
